The implementation of wait time targets and feedback on patient satisfaction reduced wait times for prescription services, according to the results of data published in the Canadian Journal of Hospital Pharmacy. To assess the impact of providing wait time targets and patient satisfaction feedback to pharmacists, researchers conducted a quasi-experimental research study with a single-group interrupted time-series design. Data on provision of wait time targets and patient satisfaction were collected weekly for 5 consecutive weeks from 35 employees at a single hospital. The researchers found a decrease of 11.13 minutes (17%) in wait times for prescription services for compound prescriptions and of 12.70 (37%) minutes for non-compounded prescriptions. The researchers saw a significant change in compounded and non-compounded prescription services as well as a significant improvement in patient satisfaction at 4 weeks.
